Backhoe Operator

March 30 at 8:00 am - April 2 at 5:00 pm

Registration required. MUST be 18 years of age with a verifiable address in the Rio Grande Valley.

Introduction to Backhoe Operation (HEP002) provides entry-level operators with instruction on the proper operation of a backhoe and/or loader. Traditional classroom training provides participants with safe work practices, an understanding of machine mechanical systems, and operational techniques. Hands-on exercises utilizing the TEEX Heavy Equipment Field provide students with operational skills development designed to ensure proper use of the equipment.

Under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, participants will gain knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to properly operate a forklift. In addition to safety best practices, participants receive hands-on opportunities to ensure understanding of equipment specific stability requirements, fork adjustment protocols, fueling procedures and other usage issues.

Note: Please wear closed-toe shoes. We will provide a hard hat and safety vest for use during equipment operation.
